What Can You Do for My Sewer Lines?

If you have found that your drains are backed up or you have noticed any nasty sewage smells around your property, you could be experiencing a problem with your sewer lines. You will definitely want to call an experienced sewer plumber if you have noticed flooding or unusual vegetation in your yard, as this may indicate a line has ruptured underneath your property. Not only can this lead to nasty sewage problems, but may even cause issues with your home’s foundation, making it important to address all sewer-related issues sooner rather than later.

Fortunately, Anderson Plumbing, Heating & Air offers a number of minimally invasive sewer services in San Marcos designed to keep your sewer and drain system working better and lasting longer without causing a massive disruption to your property. In the past, you would usually have to dig up someone’s yard to fix their sewer line. But with our trenchless pipe repair options, we can now access your sewer lines and even fix them quickly, all with minimal mess and greater efficiency.

Our San Marcos sewer plumbers offer service options including:

  • Clog Removal: At Anderson Plumbing, Heating & Air, we offer drain snaking to remove and break up blockages deep within your sink, tub, toilet, or other lines flowing to your sewer system. We also provide hydrojetting, which uses a powerful stream of water to eliminate even the toughest obstructions, such as tree roots. And with our cutting-edge camera inspections, we can identify clogs before they even become a problem.
  • Sewer Line Repairs: Using trenchless technology, Anderson Plumbing, Heating & Air can clean out old sewer lines and feed new ones into your property. In many cases, if only a portion of your sewer line is damaged, it may be easily repaired. Other times, you may require complete…
  • Sewer Line Replacement: Thanks to trenchless pipelining, our plumbers are able to replace your old sewer pipes by putting new lining right in the center of your existing ones. This allows us to insert replacement piping while breaking up and extracting old, broken down lines—all without digging up your property!

Trenchless Sewer Line Repairs

Generally speaking, trenchless sewer line repairs are not only more economical but less time-consuming than traditional repair/replacement services. Other advantages of trenchless sewer lining and repairs include:

  • An environmentally friendly option to traditional installations
  • Little (or no) digging required for the repair
  • Typically less costly than alternative repair options

Additionally, we complete our trenchless pipelining to ASTM standards for a minimum design life of 50 years!

  • Sewer Back Ups Caused by Misaligned Pipes
The most common cause of sewer back up is tree roots, but they are not the only cause. Pipe misalignment at the connection between two pieces of pipe is especially common for older sewer lines. This is due to the pipe’s long years of service and ground settling. Bedding under the pipe slowly gives way, causing the pipe connection to separate. When this happens, waste water leaks out causing the soil under the pipe to erode...making the offset worse over time. This can be a gradual process or it can happen quickly. It will ultimately cause more and more backups and finally a pipe collapse.

  • Summer Cookouts
With Summer around the corner and many BBQ's and cookouts in our future, let's not take it out on our garbage disposals and sewer lines. While the obvious choice may be to use the garbage disposal as a catch-all, you'll save time and money by throwing the bulk of your food waste into the garbage can or compost instead. Limit the garbage disposal for little scraps, rinsed off plates, and other dishes, and you'll save yourself time, money and frustration.

  • When to Replace Heating & Air Conditioning System
A common question I get asked is, “When do I need to replace my furnace or air conditioner?" Actually, you can keep repairing virtually forever, but this is not necessarily cost effective. A good rule of thumb is: Replace when your heat pump or air conditioner is more than 10 years old, and your furnace when it is 15 years old (or repair costs start to exceed the value of unit). Heating and cooling equipment has become MUCH more efficient in recent years. Replacement of older, less efficient systems should absolutely be considered now based on current financing options, tax benefits, municipality rebates and low-interest rates. You should consider replacement if you have any of these concerns: System needs expensive repairs, the utility bill is too high, rooms are too hot or too cold, you have humidity problems, your home has excessive dust, or the system is too noisy.

  • High Water Pressure Is like High Blood Pressure
The most common problem we see are plumbing leaks. Think about when you go to the doctor... What is the first thing they do? They check your blood pressure because high blood pressure ruins your arteries, kidneys, vision, and heart. If you are having problems, high blood pressure is the first thing to try and rule out. High water pressure is no different. It ruins dishwasher solenoids, faucet washers, angle stops and washing machine hoses. In fact, it puts your entire plumbing system at risk. A water pressure regulator protects your system.
