San Diego Air Conditioning: Ductless Mini-Splits

May 29, 2013

Back in the day, many homes in the San Diego area didn’t have central air conditioning installed. After all, its close proximity to the ocean means moderate temperatures year round, so many people didn’t feel it was necessary to have air conditioning. That reasoning works, as long as the temperatures are comfortable, but once you hit a hot spell and the heat and humidity will not let up, even at night, air conditioning doesn’t seem like such a bad idea.

What if my San Diego home doesn’t have air ducts?

Even if your house doesn’t have ductwork, a San Diego Air Conditioning company can help you install a mini split air conditioning system to keep your home cool and comfortable.

How Does a Ductless Mini Split A/C System Work?

With a ductless mini-split system, you have a pump and compressor outside the house, so you can say goodbye to the noise of the window air conditioning units.

Mini Split A/C Systems In Your Home

In the home, you have fan units that mount to the wall or ceiling that blow the cool air while dehumidifying. The fan units are connected to the compressor through a conduit sent through the walls which contains electrical wires, refrigerant lines, and condensate tubing. For most systems, you can have up to four wall units working off of the compressor, each with its own thermostat control so you can keep each area of the home the temperature you desire. Some models even come with a remote control. If you thought installing central air would mean a major renovation (and expense) that would involve installing ductwork in your home, there is another option. If you’re tired of dealing with uncomfortable heat and humidity in the summer, or noisy window air conditioner units, contact us. We can come look at your home and find a solution that is right for you.
