Heating Installations & Replacements

Every heater will eventually need to be replaced. While well-built heaters can serve you faithfully for years, the truth is that the average heater will simply become a liability after around a decade or so. Parts will wear out and need replacing, energy efficiency will drop, and your heater may simply become unable to keep up with your heat production needs.

A total replacement can help you save money on repair costs, reduce your energy consumption, and give you dependable heat for years to come. If you’re tired of your heater breaking and the need for frequent repairs, we encourage you to consider a new system installation or total replacement as a cost-effective solution.

You may need a new heater if any of the following are true:

  • Your heater needs a repair that costs almost as much as a new system does
  • Your heater needs a serious repair more than once per year
  • Your heater is more than 10 to 15 years old
  • Your energy bills skyrocket during winter, even with no noticeable increase in heater use
  • Your heater struggles to keep your home warm or runs continuously

Heating Repairs

While a new heater will give you the dependable and energy-efficient heat you need, you may not necessarily need to invest in an entirely new system if all you have is a minor or routine issue. Anderson Plumbing, Heating & Air offers comprehensive repair services for all different types of heating and air conditioning equipment.

From simple issues and easy fixes to complex solutions and even warranty repairs, we are the name you can turn to for a heating system that works right. We’ve never found a problem we couldn’t solve, nor is any repair too small for us to give our utmost attention and care.

Tips & Advice

Tips & Advice From Our Experts

  • Why Is It Important to Protect Your Heating and Air System?
When investing in a new comfort system ( heating and air conditioning), or keeping the one you have to run at peak efficiency, it's important to keep it maintained. One of the biggest causes of breakdown is dirty coils and motors. A great solution is getting routine maintenance like you would for your personal vehicle. For HVAC systems, annual maintenance is recommended (and required in some warranties). Even better, is to add an air filtration and purification system. An air conditioner evaporator coil that has dirt as thin as plastic wrap will cause you to lose 20% efficiency! Also, the dirt can cause the motors and compressor to overwork. This causes increased utility bills and breakdowns.

  • Is PVC and ABS Piping Bad?
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) piping were produced experimentally in the 19th century, hit the US in the 1950’s, and is most commonly used in today's sewer systems. While PVC or ABS pipe can last for decades, the thin-walled pipe can be damaged by inadequate bedding/fill or ground settling and heavy root growth. Once a section of plastic pipe is damaged, the other connections may deteriorate over time or roots will damage another section of the line. This type of piping can last a long time if it is a quality pipe and the installation was done properly. Thinner-walled pipe flexes and is more susceptible to premature problems.

  • Don't Let Drips Drain Your Wallet...
High water bill? Could be any number of things, but methodical troubleshooting can save a lot of time and money. First, listen and look for any obvious signs of leaks. The dog may have found a new favorite place to nap which could indicate a slab leak. Check for movement at your water meter while you are sure nothing is running. Dye test toilet tanks to identify failing flappers and flush valves. Do you hear your toilet filling up at night? Look closely at ceilings and baseboards for discoloration and/or bubbling. Check under sinks and place newspaper on the bottoms of vanities to clearly see if drips occur. This is a good starting point, but if you still are unable to identify the origin of a leak, call a licensed plumber, this will save you time and money in the long run. And remember, don't let drips drain your wallet!

  • How Tree Roots Invade Pipes
A very common reason for stoppages are tree roots. Tree roots typically enter a pipe through a bad connection. They can’t enter a sewer system that is constructed properly. Roots should never be present. Roots quickly become established and as they grow, they further damage the connection – kind of like a tree sapling that grows through a crack in a sidewalk. If left alone for just a few months, it will cause the sidewalk to crack. That is what happens with tree roots and sewer lines.

  • Smelly Garbage Disposal?

Do you have a smelly garbage disposer? Cleaning the disposal is simple! Run cold water, turn on the disposal, and feed two trays of ice cubes into the disposal quickly. Wait until all ice is completely degraded before turning off the disposer and cold water. If the disposer still smells bad, chop up a lemon into small chunks and feed it down the drain.

DO NOT use drain cleaners such as Drano. This is important! Those types of cleaners are mainly fine sand and bleach, or other caustics, which corrode your plumbing rather quickly and can cut the life of your garbage disposal in half.
