Video inspections – the best pipe detectives

Who should have a pipeline video inspection done?

If you’ve had a sewer or drain back-up, chances are it’s not the first and won’t be the last. These problems aren’t fun and no one likes to deal with them multiple times, but that’s just what happens when a system starts to fail. By having a video inspection done you can eliminate the question of what’s causing the problem and can identify whether or not this is going to be a recurring issue. Whether it’s deterioration due to age or roots finding their way to water, we’ll be able to see the problem and present you with your options.

What’s involved in having a video camera inspection done?

Typically it requires no more than 2 hours to complete a thorough residential sewer camera video inspection. You do not have to be home for us to complete the inspection. A DVD of the footage will be provided to you and we will go over the findings with you at a time that is convenient for you.

BEFORE YOU BUY: Do you know what's hiding in the drains?

Buying a home is exciting and for many, it is a dream come true! But you want to be sure your dream home does not come with a hidden nightmare. An often overlooked and very important part of the home: the main sewer. Having the main drain cleared so a camera (drain vision) can be used to inspect the line can reveal some hidden issues such as deterioration or root intrusions in the line. This simple inspection can save you unwanted surprises and costly repairs prior to buying a home!

Tips & Advice from Our Experts

Sewer Inspection BEFORE you Buy!

Before you buy a home, traditionally you require a home inspection. Checking the condition of the sewer system is not included. I would highly recommend spending a small amount to determine its condition. Sewer replacement can be expensive, and every prospective homeowner should take the extra step to ensure they don’t buy a house and literally put thousands of dollars down the drain. How can the condition of sewer pipes be determined? Inquire about the history from the existing homeowner. Frequent blockages, odors, slow drains or rapid growth of vegetation can be tell-tale signs of compromised pipe. The best and only way to determine the condition of a sewer pipe is to have a camera inspection by a drain specialist. If you hire a specialist, they should have a camera with video capabilities and can provide you a copy of the video.

FAQ

Can you clear my drain through the roof vent?

We cannot place our plumbers in hazardous positions, so we do not go through roof vents. This is a very effective way to cause roof leaks but an ineffective way of clearing stoppages. Stoppage should be reasonably accessible (clean out available). If you do not have a clean out, call us to inquire about having one installed, it's recommended to have one should you ever need service in the future.

What is a drain clean out?

A drain clean out is an access point to your drain with a cap on it. It provides access to a clog if it gets past the drains. They are typically located in the front or back yard, under the kitchen sink, or in the wall near your washer/dryer hook ups.

What is pipe lining?

Pipe Lining is a way to make old pipes new again, from the inside, without replacing the existing drain or sewer piping.

Why would I need a camera inspection of my drain lines?

Pipe camera inspections are the only way to conclusively know what is really going on inside your pipes.
