Anderson Plumbing Fights Back Against Breast Cancer
Learn About Our Partnership with Susan G. Komen San Diego
The Susan G. Komen Foundation is one of the largest organizations dedicated to breast cancer research and awareness in the nation. Each year, the Komen Foundation hosts the Race for the Cure in cities around the country to raise money for breast cancer research, and to bring visibility to this serious issue. Breast cancer claims more than 40,000 lives every year, and the statistics show that nearly 1 in 8 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer over the course of their lifetime.
At Anderson Plumbing, we care deeply about supporting survivors of this disease, as well as sponsoring life-saving research to find a cure. That’s why our San Diego plumbing, heating, and AC specialists partner annually with Susan G. Komen San Diego to raise money for the Race for the Cure. We also host an ongoing “Find a Cure Friday” program to give back to our local community.
Why the San Diego Race for the Cure?
One of the main reasons we support Susan G. Komen San Diego is that no other organization is better equipped to improve women’s access to vital breast health care, and to move public policy in the right direction. Just in the last five years, Komen San Diego has assisted more than 19,200 people in navigating the medical system after a breast cancer diagnosis, and provided more than $2 million in financial assistance, diagnostic services, and education about breast cancer. The organization has also invested more than $2 million just to researching the cure for this disease.
Our president, Mary Jean Anderson, has a personal history with breast cancer: Her grandmother passed away from the disease, and two of her aunts are breast cancer survivors. In fact, most members of the Anderson Plumbing team have a deeply personal connection to breast cancer, as we’ve watched so many of our friends, family members, and coworkers battle this deadly disease with courage and grace.
Because we’re so passionate about this issue, Anderson Plumbing, Heating & Air joins forces with Susan G. Komen San Diego every year to raise money for the Race for the Cure. We proudly sponsor our team of over 20 employees, friends, and family in Balboa Park, where the race is hosted annually, and over the years we have donated thousands of dollars to finding a cure for breast cancer. Earning the nickname the “Pink Plumbers” for our bright pink shirts during the race, our women-owned team in San Diego hopes to raise visibility about this important issue.
Find A Cure Friday: Learn How You Can Give Back
Anderson Plumbing also hosts an ongoing program to fight back against breast cancer. Eight years ago, we began our Find a Cure Friday program. During the months of August, September, and October, we pledge to donate $5 to Susan G. Komen San Diego for every service performed on a Friday. Whether you need to book heating services or fix your AC towards the end of the summer, you can breathe easy knowing that a portion of your money will go directly to helping the battle against breast cancer.
To help end the fight against breast cancer, we invite you to book an appointment on a Friday during the months of Find a Cure Friday, and to make a donation to Susan G. Komen San Diego if you have the means. We also provide all of our customers with information on both the Susan G. Komen organization, as well as the Race for the Cure in San Diego each year.
