2012 San Diego Race for the Cure Gets Help From San Diego Plumbers
The Anderson Plumbing, Heating and Air team is committed to helping raise breast cancer awareness, to working towards its prevention and to use donations raised to help patients and their families within the San Diego community. Although we’ve been raising funds all year through our Find-a-Cure-Friday program, we are now kicking-off our biggest part of the fundraising, the San Diego Race for the Cure.
We have 27 employees on the team this year (and even more with friends and family). As a member of the team, each of us is playing a part in helping Susan G. Komen for the Cure® end breast cancer forever. In 2011, we raised $83,000 for the foundation, through media purchases promoting the foundation, funds raised at various events, Find a Cure Friday and the Komen Race for the Cure.
This year, we’re forecasting $67,000, but would love to blow way past that! Check out our Race for the Cure Page and help us raise that thermometer by sponsoring our team or individual walkers. Then, come out at have some fun at the 2012 Race for the Cure - San Diego on November 4th at Balboa Park.
75% of the funds raised stay here in San Diego to help local patients and their families and the remaining goes to the national foundation to help find a cure. It’s pretty staggering that 1 in 8 women in the U.S. are diagnosed with breast cancer. The brighter side is that with early detection, survival rates skyrocket. So, let’s pull together and buy some mammograms! Together, we help fuel the best science, the boldest community and make the biggest impact in the fight against breast cancer.
The donation site allows you to make a one-time contribution or you may set up recurring donations if you feel so inclined. You can even give an “In Honor or In Memory”. When these gifts are received, Susan G. Komen for the Cure sends a personalized tribute card to the person or family indicated, notifying them of your thoughtful donation (but not revealing the amount of the donation). Donations are tax-deductible and the donor receives acknowledgment for the donation.
